In a global economy and in times of little growth change is inevitable. Very often though change initiatives are not as successful as initially desired.

This has many reasons. Among them are:

- The plan for a transformation programme is not realistic,

- The organisation is not prepared,

- Managers and staff are afraid and block initiatives,

- Change is not well communicated,

- Expectations are not managed, and, most important,

- The effects of "the curve of change" are not being taken into account! 

Initially on a new project, most people are enthousiastic or at least indifferent. This enthousiasm is going to reach a peak though and when the first signs of resistance show up people tend to fall back into old behaviours. They say "The old situation was better anyway" and wonder whether they really needed changing at all. This phenomenon can be depicted on "the curve of change". As a transformation specialist I am tasked to take my clients by their hands and walk them through the change process ensuring a positive and sustaining outcome of the transformation initiative.
